First update
The trickiest non-technical aspect of the game is finding the right level of control over the words.
On the one hand, I want to keep the controls and the UI relatively simple. On the other hand, as the corpus grows it is becoming ever harder to get the word you're looking for. Then again, I really want to encourage people to approach poetry writing at least a little bit more fluidly. Use the words that appear, don't lock yourself in into a specific word too quickly.
As I was testing the game though, I realised that it is difficult to avoid accidental pickups. I like that, it adds a feeling of tension. But it shouldn't be as extreme as it is now. So this version adds at least one extra layer of control: you can now press backspace to remove the last word picked up within the current line. I feel it makes the game a lot less frustrating while still retaining a high level of difficulty.
- Corpus Size: 824 (+124)
- Functional Changes:
- Added the possibility to remove words from the current line in the poem
- Bug Fixes:
- Fixed an alignment bug on the start screen
- Current Focus:
- Transferring the score to the end screen and saving a high score
